Writing hypothetical interest transactions for educational purposes
Question
I had a question that was concerning me as I have been reading up on Islam and wanted to get further knowledge of my faith. I know that interest is haram and that as per the following hadith:
Sayyiduna Abd Allah ibn Mas’ud (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) cursed the one who accepted usury, the one who paid it, the witness to it, and the one who recorded it. (Sunan Abu Dawud: Book 22, Number 3327).
With this in mind, I am doing my CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation and deal with writing out interest transactions in an educational format. I wanted to know if this is still considered to be haram in this context as I am writing down hypothetical transactions, or as it has no real value and is strictly for education, if it is permissible. Please advise me accordingly.

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما
In the aforementioned scenario, since one is not taking part in an actual contract and is only writing hypothetical contracts for educational purposes, such a job would be permissible. The hadith you have quoted refers to those who take part in an actual interest based contract in any capacity.
