Killing insects

Assalam Alaikum

Is it permissible to kill spiders and other insects with the help of chemical?

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

In reference to your question, it is permissible to kill any insect or animal which could potentially harm a person. Consider the following hadith: 

‘Ayesha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “There are five animals which are harmful. There is no sin in killing them in the haram or outside of the haram. They are: a kite, a scorpion, a mouse, or a wild dog.”

(Muslim)

The ‘ulama have deduced from the aforementioned narration and others that any animal or insect which is harmful or would lead to untidiness (through webs, dirt, etc.) would be permissible to kill and there would be no sin in doing so.
