Buying items for extremely low prices

We often find people selling different things in the streets and at times they offer very expensive items at unbelievably low prices which causes one to wonder if the item is stolen property. In such cases would purchasing these items be permissible?

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

If one strongly believes that an item was actually stolen, then purchasing such an item will not be permissible. If one has mere doubt that it was stolen, then it would still be better to exercise caution. Buying or selling stolen goods renders the transaction invalid. As such, if such a sale does take place, the purchaser will not be considered a legal owner of the item nor will the seller be entitled to the money earned from the item.
