Doing the Aqeeqah late for two sons

If a person has two sons and did not offer the aqeeqah for either one of them due to lack of knowledge, must he slaughter all four goats on behalf of both of them at the same time or separately?

 بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

الجواب حامدا و مصليا و مسلما

Offering the aqeeqah is mustahab, not fardh or wajib. Therefore, if Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has given him wealth, he should slaughter two goats or sheep for each son. Since the aqeeqah itself is not fardh or wajib, it will make no difference whatsoever whether he offers both aqeeqahs together or separately; he should offer them whenever it is easy for him.
