Is it permissible for a woman to wear fiber mascara

As salaamu ’alaykum,

Is it permissible for a woman to wear fiber mascara? When white fibers are applied (a powder mixture) then a mascara, they create an illusion of false lashes without wearing false lashes?

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

It is permissible to use fibre mascara. However, when using makeup one should consider the following:

1) It has no impure substances in it. Any makeup which contains impure substances would be impermissible to apply.

2) It is not visible to non-mahram (a person in front of whom a woman must observe hijab).

3) It should not be applied for deception (e.g if a potential suitor for marriage comes to see a woman, she should not apply makeup to portray a false appearance.) 

4) It does not create such a layer which stops the water from reaching the skin. If it does prevent the water from reaching the skin, then wudhu will not be valid in such a state and one would be required to remove the makeup before performing wudu.
