Is there an authentic hadith indicating that angels of mercy do not enter a house wherein a woman’s hair can be seen?
Question
As salaamu ’alaykum,
Is there an authentic hadith indicating that angels of mercy do not enter a house wherein a woman’s hair can be seen? I heard someone tell us a hadith which meant that once Jibreel عليه السلام knocked on our Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم door and was given permission to enter. He knocked again and was given the permission again. But he still knocked for the third time. So our Prophet ﷺtold him that I have given you permission to enter twice before so Jibreel عليه السلام said that how can I enter when Aisha is sitting with you and her hair is uncovered. Does such a Hadith exist and if it does then is it not relatable?

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما
There is no reliable hadith to this effect in our knowledge. There are some narrations which mention that angels do not enter the home of a woman whose hair is uncovered. However, these narrations are weak. There is an authentic hadith that once Sayyiduna Jibreel ‘alayhi salam did not enter upon Sayyidatuna Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) because she was uncovered. This hadith is either specific to Sayyiduna Jibreel ‘alayhi salam or it is in regards to the body being exposed. In conclusion, there is no authentic hadith that mentions that angels do not enter the home if a woman’s hair is uncovered.
