Joining the Imam in the last sitting

If a person joins the congregation while the imam is in the last sitting, what should he read?

 بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

In the aforementioned scenario, one should recite tashahud slowly enough that he finishes reciting it by the time the imam says salaam. If one finished reciting tashahud early, they should constantly recite the final portion of tashahud (ashhadu al laa ilaha illallah wa ashhadu anna muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu) until the imam says salaam.
