Keeping gold at ones house

Is keeping gold and gold ornaments at home against the sunnah? What is the sunnah way of treating gold jewelry? Will it be following the sunnah if I am not buying and keeping gold ornaments at home even though I have the money to do so for my mother and wife?

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

It is permissible to keep gold and gold jewelry in one’s home. Furthermore, it would not be deemed to be against the sunnah. Provided one fulfills their obligation of zakah (if it is due on the gold), it would be permissible to own gold and also keep it in one’s home.
