Offering salah on a chair

There is a person who is capable of standing and performing ruku in salah, but is not capable of performing sajdah (prostration). Is he allowed to pray while sitting on a chair?

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

In principle, if a person is incapable of performing sajdah, then qiyam (standing) no longer remains fardh upon them. If they are able to stand and perform ruku’, it would be better for them to do so and thereafter they may sit on a chair to perform sajdah with gestures. However, it would be permissible to pray the entire salah while sitting on a chair in such a scenario as well.
