One Imam, One muqtadi, how should they stand?

If there is only one person offering salah behind the imam, where should he stand?

 بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

In such a scenario, one should stand to the right of the imam slightly behind him while ensuring they do not go in front of the imam in any part of the salah. Consider the following hadith:

‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas(may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, “One night I stood to the left of the Prophet of Allah(may Allah bless him and give him peace) to offer salah with him. He took my head and brought me over to his right side.” 

(Bukhari)
