Performing salah on a chair

How should one place his hands in sajda whilst seated on a chair for salaat? some people protrude their hands in front in the air, is it a correct method?

When a person performs sajdah on a chair due to being unable to perform sajdah on the ground , they should place their hands on their thighs and simply move their abdomen forward. One should avoid putting their hands forward in the air since this an unnecessary action in salah.
