Piercing the ears, nose, eyebrows, and tongue

Assalamualaikum

Is ear piercing allowed for muslim girls?

What about nose piercing?

Also nowadays people pierce eyebrows, tongue etc are these jaaiz?

Finally, is it halal to have more than one hole on each ear?

In principle, cutting and piercing the body is considered a type of mutilation and should not be permissible. However, shari’ah has permitted piercings which occurred in the prophetic era or has been the practice of Muslim women as an exception. Thus, any other piercings should be avoided as they may be considered a type of mutilation which has been prohibited in shari’ah. 

Based on the above detail, the answers to your queries may be found below:

1) It is permissible for women to pierce their ears, as this was a common practice of the female companions during the lifetime of the Messenger (may Allah bless him and give him peace).

2) It is also permissible for a woman to get her nose pierced, as this has been a practice of Muslim women throughout history.

3) Since such piercings were not done during the prophetic era nor have they been the practice of Muslim women, such piercings should be avoided. 

4) Having multiple piercings in each ear is permissible.
