Protecting the eyes from unlawful gazes

My uncle accidentally killed a chicken, or something similar to it.

To relieve himself of this sin (if it is a sin), what are the conditions, or requirements? He has been doing repenting and seeking forgiveness in abundance.

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

In principle, anything which was done by accident will not constitute a sin. Therefore, your uncle would not be considered sinful in the aforementioned scenario. Nonetheless, it is always a good habit to regularly repent for any mistakes one may have made knowingly or unknowingly.
